If you mean adding a shelf without using the Cabinet Editor then simply use the default shelf found in "CabinetBottom->Square->FirstCat->W024H000D012 BSH24". Add that cabinet consisting of a simple shelf to the floor plan. Resize it and adjust its vertical position. Then move it inside the bottom cabinet. (Be sure to de-activate Overlap detection button - F3) You can also create new simple object by using the PLUS with the four question marks button [??+??].
